Something to distract my
Nervous fingers
And teeth
While my mind wanders

Happily lost in Great Walls of books
Pyramids of crystal quotes
Mahals of shining thought
That dripped like pearls
Into the once-pure sea,
Memory.

Databanks full
Of others’ wisdom
Others’ words and eloquence.
But my feelings, my context:
Me

Ensconced in that library
Of random phrases
Lifted because
Connotation called
To some shy reflection
In mind’s mirror.
