A Forwards Dream

December 5, 2010
By Anonymous

I am lost and I don’t know if I can ever be found
I have no balance and I don’t know
if I’ll ever find solid ground

I’m living a backwards life,
wish I was living a forwards dream,
I want to be
who I want to,
but I don’t know if I should
I feel like there is something missing
from my backwards life

What does it matter
what others think?

What does it matter
if I am different?

Now I’m living a forwards life,
and not a backwards nightmare
I am who I want to be and
I don’t care what others think,
now I know there is
nothing missing
from my forwards life

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this poem because I wanted kids to know that they don't have to worry about what others think as long as they feel good about themselves.
