I asked my father if I could fly.
“Sure, son, spread your wings.”

I asked my father if I could see the future.
“It would blind you, it’d be so bright!”

I asked my father if I could rule the world.
“Son, you could lift the world.”

I asked my father to not be disappointed in me.
“I could never be disappointed in you, boy.”

I asked my father, “what if I were gay?”
Silence.
