Sinking,

Sinking,

Sinking.
The chains around my feet hinder me.
I am drowning.
They drag me
Down,

Down,

Down.
Does anyone see me drowning?
I don’t know if I can take this anymore.
The shackles rub against my ankles as if they are old friends.
Fight,

Fight,
Fight.
The key is in my hand.
I unlock the shackles that held me.
Now I can

Breathe,

Breathe,
Breathe.

The author's comments:
I wrote this because everyone has some kind of pressure in their lives. I wanted to show that even on the brink of death, you can see a glimmer of hope.
