Burns Run Deep
Everyone’s talking about you.
Who knew you’d be so famous?
I didn’t know you.
Even though I wish I could have.
We wear green and orange today for you.
My friend was crying in class.
She wouldn’t say anything at lunch.
My step-sister is at home.
Not moving.
Not alive.
You were her friend.
And now she’s devastated.
But through this,
I still can’t see why everyone has to be so sad.
We should be happy that you’re
Not in pain,
In a better place,
Remembered.
I want to celebrate your life.
Celebrate what a loving person you were,
Celebrate what you’ve accomplished.
So I cry not for that you’ve died,
But for how many people you affected;
And the life you lived so well.
