Ode to Socks

The open dresser drawer
All the socks look back at me
All the different colors and designs
laying there waiting to be chosen.
You wish I’d choose you
Even though none of you match
My outfit.

You keep me warm when I
get cold.
All the designs warm a person up
And the colors do too.
I think.
Others wear you on many
different parts of their body.
They wear them as for
Mittens to keep their
Hands warm, stocking caps
To keep heat in there head,
Scarves around their necks
So they can keep warm
And, of course, socks
To keep their feet warm.

But now when I return
To the drawer,
All your colors yell out to me.
The red ones yell as for
There in a hot fire.
The pink ones are softly
Talking out to me like the
Breeze through a Willow Tree.
Which do I choose?
How do I choose?
I don’t know, but I must
Choose soon.

I can hear a black sock
Talking at me from the dark
Confines of my closet.
I should know that’s where
All the dark ones hide.
All the different colors make
It so hard to choose.
You all look very stunning,
But today isn’t your day.
None of you have a match either.

Sometimes you’re not welcome anymore.
You may get holes in you and people
throw you away.
You get worn outside
And onto rough
Surfaces and get worn out.
Throwing you away
isn’t always easy.
It is difficult for people
like me.
I get socks and I don’t ever want
to get rid of you guys.

With all you socks calling
My name, all the different
Colors and designs make
It hard to blend with what
I have to wear.
How to choose?...
But hey guess what!
I’m going to wear flip flops today.

That's just awesome! C: I love it, socks are awesome. This is really creative, I'd have never thought to write about socks.
