"A wonderful fact to reflect upon, that every human creature is constituted to be that profound secret and mystery to every other."
-Charles Dickens in A Tale of Two Cities

The once lively forest sighs in despair
For a rumbling, a tumbling, a heat fills the air.
Orange and yellow roar with might
The joys of the forest disappear in a night.

The smoldering logs, the ashes aglow
The livelihood vanished from long ago.
But the stars align and “on,” the world urges
A glimmer of hope soon emerges.

A flower rises from ash
A life surpasses shame
As sure as an open window sash
Swells stuck when it rains.

The smoldering logs, the ashes aglow
The livelihood gone from long ago.
But the stars align and “on,” the world urges
A glimmer of hope soon emerges.
