Sun rises
Over oven-baked ground
Dry as a bone
Screaming out for water

Parched veins
The waiting is endless
Days, weeks, months
And still there is no rain

Overwhelming thirst
The need is too strong
Yet still the sky remains
As cloudless and empty as ever.

The author's comments:
I've never really written a poem before so I am not sure if this is any good. It is literally about a desert, but it can be interpreted in a number of ways metaphorically.
