He stood upon the hill
The whispering of wind in his ear
and thinking
pleading
he would live his last breath
in the last stand.
But he knew
deep down
that he would not make
this last journey
on the last day
of his last stand.
And on this last stand
he would walk into his battle
And would not return
unhardened
unscathed
and be able to return to his life
On this last stand.
