with the black and blue hair
you’ve chosen
to spill down your back,
proclaiming
Your personal crusade.
You can scoff
At the natural color
I’ve decided to keep.
Be misunderstood.
Who could ever grasp
The depth
of your individuality?
I know it is
Beyond me.
My 4.0 grades,
and unfractured life,
will prevent me
from understanding.
You will see me
as the shallow pool
you expect.
