Hello, Old Me
Alone
In the sunshine
Dirty orange t-shirt
Heavy jean shorts
I walk across the green lawn
Up the warm, wooden steps up to my door
Walking inside feeling the wall of cool air.
Dad is there to comforts me in my petty sadness
We get in the car and we drive to a happy place
There is fresh green grass and a big climbing tree
I run up the hill to see my favorite playground
Yellow, red and blue glaring in the sun
Where I know I will see swings and monkey bars
And slides and bark that will poke my bare feet
As I reach the peak of the hill I see
Everyone I missed running to me
I run away
Happy Birthday
