Teenage Wasteland
Hands shaking as
You stand there,
Take a look in the mirror now
Find the person you might have
Been before,
Watch her as she feels no pain
Watch her as her
Hands shake.
Notice every little detail
Are they like you?
Do they see right through
That putrid act
You put on every day for them?
Do they think they know you?
Every dirty little secret?
As the girl who laughs too much
During the day
Might also be the girl who
Cries herself to sleep at night
Can you see the cuts,
The scars,
That show how far we've fallen?
Can't you see how much,
Too many,
Girls and boys
And hopes and joys
And dolls and toys
Wasted.
On this
Planet we call home,
Can't you see too many
Hands shaking as they
Cut and starve and puke and burn
Just to feel
Alive.
To feel as if,
They might fit in,
Maybe its the only way to know
For sure,
That we're still here,
That we're
Home.
