Slouched against
A familiar grocery
Watches unfamiliar faces
Clad in coats
Dodge stray plastic bags
Whipping by their ankles
Averting left
He exhales
A last smoky wisp
Before carelessly dropping
A cigarette to the ground
He watches it fall
Too slowly
Only to snub the flame
With his sneaker
Attention now returns
To the busy shoppers
Our Eyes Meet
