It can flourish the dead,
or kill the live,
Give pungent green life,
Or brown, dark death

It fills the roots,
refreshing the plant,
or withholds
drying the roots,
crisping the leaves

Some may drown,
gasping for air,
while others long
for the quench
of their thirst
