and i listened.
to the weight of shame
collapsing upon my heart.

i'm just a girl with a dream.
a hole punched through my heart.
a doubtful star stamped in my eyes.

"You can't."
but yet i listened.
to the legs of failure
running freely through my veins.

"No."

again i listened.
to the volcanic burst of anger,
erupting behind my rib cage.

i can.


but yet i listened.


and now inside my talent, i forever obstain.
