A crow wonders across the street
Each step like baby hops
Barely rising but falling hard
It’s black and slender body casts
A misleadingly large shadow
A single dark cloud hovering above the earth
Waiting to release its heavy burden
The crow looks up to find only empty expectations
Caws like prayers spat at God
“Free me from this prison
Of black feathers and dirty grim”
Clouds join in on this somber occasion
Let the tears fall from your eyes
To topple down it’s broken back
