He tried to break me
I have nothing to write, no heart to display.
You’ve eaten and digested all the pretty things.
I shared every part of me and gave to you my originality.
I stand on stage naked and bare, what else do I have to share?
With theses strangers all around, I can only see you in the crowd.
There is nothing new to you about me you’ve had it all.
You let me fall.
No remorse at all, I was the butterfly he tore the wings off of and let live.
Thinking if he took the pretty things I’d have nothing else to give.
You’re wrong; you could only take the light I showed.
Scared when the darkness over took my throne.
There’s one thing you could never have.
Something I never let show; I have the power to learn and grow.
This heart may be battered and bruised.
I will not let myself feel used.
It may have been love and lose.
And one more scar to tell a story.
To be in love is bliss to me.
I won’t hide like you; so blind you, you’ll never see.
My heart belongs on my sleeve.
