The Fountain of Youth

September 24, 2010
The shadows that splash across her face
Are carriers of ancient tales

Yesteryears of lollipops and bubblegum
Yellow and fold in their age
Iced tea on the porch with grandchildren
And Fourth of July parades
Beg to be anything but the
Deaf silver of tarnished memories

Church bells and baby's squeals
A fountain pen's slashing marks
On an agreement to annul
Indigo faced wiles of hope

Every Tuesday, another coin is Baptized
By and eternal fountain that
Promises to add a little light
