its Exterior is strong
Its susceptibility not condoned by Mother Hen and not
revered by Farmer Lucifer—whose Own fragility
lies cold—
The stage of Not-Yet-hatched is tainted by an Absence
of cognition,
humble Weakness regarded with a Cursory pity
a deliberate Distance to elude wreckage
of the shell
