Awake

Lying awake,
in the dead of the night,
a feeling of frustration,
irritation, anger.
Staring at the blinking of the clock,
mocking my annoyance
on the dark cool night.
I think to myself, "lie still, fall asleep"
But the harder I think,
the longer I'm lying,
Awake.
