I looked out the window and realized that the trees outside were almost bare. The withered brown leaves were scattered in the grass and the wind occasionally picked them up and limply dropped them two feet away. That’s when I realized it. How much I had changed over the period I had known him. Like those leaves, I had once been bright and full of life and slowly, without realizing it I had turned into this unpleasant shell of a person. The reflection in the window looked back at me with dreary grey eyes. There was something about them I couldn’t quite figure out. Something familiar yet so out of place. In so few months, I had let him wring me dry. He had sucked all the life out of me and left a pale, ghostlike girl behind. Everything was a struggle these days. Nothing held my interest for long. The girl in the reflection blinked and a tear escaped her eye. That’s what it was. Sad, that’s what she looked liked.
I had to pick myself up before I fell any further.
