linoleum is the shoulder i cry on
it alone knows why
i live a princess life
isolated in a tall tower
no one knows how to climb
and leaning out my window i see
the people who are smiling up
at me but don't know why
i cannot just go down the stairs
and meet them on the ground
instead of meeting wondrous eyes
i stare out at a vacant, paper sea
and flood linoleum with salt.
