In the corner

A shameless distraction
From the small text
Lying on the table.

Composed,
But not alert
The world its domain

To sway
Midair,
Its ribbon gently ensnaring me
And luring me astray

Smirks at me from above
I grit my teeth

Inexhaustible hand
Guides me to
A far-off soil.
A land
Where the sky
Blinks with perfection
Until morning
Snaps me up

And I allow
A quiet groan
