I Thought You Were Special...

Maybe it wasn’t as bad as I made out,
The heartbreak that I felt, I’m sure, will fade with time,
But I’m sick of all the stupid lies,
When I know the truths I want live behind your eyes,
But what is right, what is wrong? I don’t know anymore,
Nothing can help me now only trust
I need to trust you, believe you but you know I can’t
You know but why don’t I?
I can’t bring myself to say it,
Neither can you.
We’re stuck together even though it doesn’t make sense,
We’ll never part although it makes perfect sense,
Hoping opportunity’ll knock,
A time to say goodbye
We both know it’s the only way,
Why can’t it be easier?
I need to breathe, come up for air,
Drowning no way out,
Leave the sea; go inland for a while,
It might have worked… who knows, but I don’t want to stick around and find out.
You hurt me,
I’m not gonna let you do it again… but I don’t want to hurt you!
We can’t run from the truth anymore, we can’t run from ourselves!
It’ll catch up eventually,
It always does.
Hugging, kissing, being together, why doesn’t it feel the same?
Maybe we should persevere, but why flog a horse that’s dead and gone?
Not all captains go down with their ships.
This is farewell,
Doesn’t have to be good-bye, not forever.
Not for you and me.
Not for you and I,
But I though you were meant to be special…

very sad, yet realistic subject...i love the meaning behind it, but it lacked a certain rhythm
