War..

Someone asked:what is it good for?
The response, nothing
For war breeds anger, animosity, and arbitrary annihilation
Of entire countries
Peoples
Races
And Tongues
And worst of all
We have audacity to declare with God's name on our lips

This is what we have created
What we have become
A warring nation full of pestilence and disease
And children with a hunger for one night not lived in fear

War
The bane of our existence
The bitter interceder
Who's only gratification is blood mixed tears
And pain stained into the hearts of the maimed
When will we recognize the names
So painstakingly framed by the field of battle?
When will we see their sacrifices vanity?
Because we can never get enough
War

Hmmm, interesting viewpoint. But what do you do in an instance like WWII? Would you have tried to stay out of the war? Just let the Nazis take over? While I agree that war is not the best option, I do not think that it is absolutely horrible. Sometimes it is neccesary to fight back, otherwise the bullies would have it made.

War is only necessary to a certain extent. When speaking of wars in this poem I was mainly talking about Iraq, because that was the war I was asigned. If you think about it, there is no reason for the war in Iraq to last as long as it has. Also, I think you would strongly agree if you saw the pictures that I had to go along with this in my project;a lot of them were brutally inhumane. And why did it start? Because we Americans got our feelings hurt, and suffered a shot to our pride and egos... (more »)
