Don't Be Like Him

Don’t Be Like Him

It kills me to watch you fight back the tears
Everything just spills out- you’ve held it in for years
You tell me how he shouted, cursed, spit in your face
All the blood is gone but the memories can’t be erased

I cringe at the thought of your head hitting a wall
The scream from your mouth as he’s watching you fall
He told you that you were worthless and a total mistake
And you’ve had to hide it- you’ve had to fake

I’m sorry, so sorry; it’s all I can say
But please, I’m begging, don’t turn out that way
Sometimes you scare me- it’s like you become someone new
I try to be good and fix the pain but you won’t let me help you

It kills me when I have to fight back the tears
No one can know, I’ll hold it in for years
First you shout, then curse, then spit in my face
Now I’m the one with the memories that can’t be erased

I try to be brave when my head hits the wall
You told me you’d never let me fall
But now I am worthless and a total mistake
I can’t tell which side of you is real and which is fake

I’m sorry, so sorry, I’m begging, please don’t
You couldn’t, you shouldn’t, you wouldn’t, you won’t
But here comes a cracking sound- the sound of my limb
It hurts, please stop, don’t be like him

oh that was so deep! I loved it and I felt like I could really feel every emotion that was portrayed throughout the poem. Very nice work! I hope to read more from you! Could you check out some of my work? It'd be much appreciated.
