"I keep trying to slam doors- but some just don't close"

The clock keeps ticking,
But there's nowhere left to move.
Everyone keeps talking,
But there's nothing left to say.
I keep walking,
But there's nowhere left to go.
And everyone keeps trying to tell me,
I told you so.

I keep shutting them out,
But they can't shut their mouth.
I have two more years here,
But I can't feel here.
There are so many people,
But I still have no love.
There is so much to get done,
But I just want to have some fun.

Life hasn't started,
It's only the beginning.
So I can't help it,
If I just feel like singing.
SATs and tests,
Don't show me how it's done.
Science class and Spanish,
Don't get *** done.

I tasted freedom,
It was so beautiful.
I tasted love,
It fit me like a glove.
I left this town,
Forgot it for good.
But I still had to come back here,
Where everyone still stood.

No love left for me,
I had to break free.
This town hated me,
I couldn't find a place.
I left for a weekend,
Not a moment too soon.
I left for a lifetime,
But I still had to come back to where I once sat.

Two more years here,
That's all that's left.
Two more years here,
That's all I can take.
Two more years here,
Feels like forever.
Two more years here,
Is a small price to pay.

The author's comments:
I have two more years left in my high school town,
I left for a weekend and some went down,
I forgot what life was like from just bumming around,
I tasted freedom while out on the town,
I came back home to be faced with a mess,
But I still only have two more years of this distress.
