Morning Flood

Suffocating
from above,
drowning
from below.
Endless
raindrops fall
and explode.

Safe inside,
with tendrils
of rain
streaking
down
the windows
and heavy drops
pounding
on the roof.

Waiting for
the bass beats
of thunder,
wide awake
in the dark
of a sunless
morning.
