Favorite Quote:
"Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."

Her protector hunches
Into the shade of cigarette addict nails
Her summer lips.

One by one, the leaves swivel off
Its mother's arms.
Plunges to the sidewalk
Obeying the flow of Autumn's wind.

Slowly, Bebe becomes
Naked to the world.
Slowly unprotected from her mother's arms.

The final hour of Autumn's
extended stay.
The very last leaf
On the sticker bush

Fell.
Slashed.
the apple
of her right cheek.
Defiling her face.
