The skin is freezing
Freezing
Brittle
Solid to the touch
And remaining still
Stagnant
Like the blackened sea of parting
You and I swim
Back and forth
Confused
There is no other side to reach

You are gone

You lie in hallowed ground
A place in the earth solely for you
Yet you departed so quickly
So unceremoniously

I am thankful you are shrouded in
Dirt
Dust
Weeds
The cruel spittle of time itself
Because you cannot see my tears
Rolling past my whithered face
Falling
And latching onto blades of grass
Beside my feet
