Mid-night

Night kisses cheek with icy breath,

hearts racing to become one.
Embrace frigid air with open arms,

toes curled in blissful anticipation.
A wave goodbye forgotten in cold,

a fog lighting the way forward.
Away from the twilight lover it leads,

a touch of blue the fading impression.
Warmth bleeds into the new wound,

scarf like salt to an infection.
One last hint of the wintry night,

until I am

alone in the

light.
