'The difference between the almost right word & the right word is really a large matter--it's the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.'
Twain

Arbeit macht frei
But it seems to me
We’ll be here forever
Free we’ll be never
And home we’ll not again see

If a town was all you knew
And because you are a Jew
You’ve been shipped off
To where joy will be naught
What would you do?

Could you still love your father?
Could you go farther?
The world would be hell
You wouldn’t do well
Even at the side of your father

Prejudice is wrong,
But still rings the gong
So give your throat up,
So you may be hung up
Regardless if it is wrong

Arbeit Macht Frei
But it seems to me
We’ll be here for ever,
Free we’ll be never
And home we’ll not again see
‘Til in heaven we can be.

Arbeit Macht Frei, Work Makes You Free, was what was written above the entrance to Auchwitz, a concentration camp during WWII
