The lies that spew
From your every pore
Only increased my incentive
To even out the score

A secret affair
With nothing more than words exchanged
Always tugging on my heart
But you showed no external change

The months flew by
My fingers slowly losing grip
My body shaking
Praying I don’t slip

The lies that spew
No one knows they are there
Carried through the wind
Lingering in the air

The secret tears
To mask the unjust pain
I watch my incentive to live
Swirl down the drain

A smile is pasted
On my broken soul
The depression creeps in
And I’ve lost all control

The lies that spew
Meant nothing to you
But confirmed it was time
this imaginary rendezvous was through
