Let Infamy Die

In this life I’ve lived
I haven’t thought once
of what will become of me
where these actions take me
or how I will be remembered

Though I have read all the scriptures
and memorized verses after verse
they never grabbed my spirit

One who has done as
much wrong as I
is certain to be reminisced
in the darkest shadows

Today I take my final
breaths seated on the throne
of justice minutes away from
sending thundering currents through me

Face after innocent face
flash before my eyes
altered in unimaginable ways
by my crimson tinged
hands

Faces that were unwillingly leaving
behind loved ones

A sense of vengeance is left
to linger in their minds long
after I am put to sleep

Now my last request I ask-
beg for only one thing
forget me.
