I stick the key in the ignition and start to feel fear
But when I hear the purr of the engine I am filled with cheer
The day I have been awaiting has finally come
And now I am prepared to have lots of fun
I put the car in gear and step on the gas
I am afraid that I will go to fast
So I take it slow until I get the hang of it
I know that once I perfect it I will never quit
To know now that I am truly free
Is a comforting feeling for me
During this moment I swell with
Because now I can finally drive
