Like a Firefly

She was like a firefly
Lighting up a starless sky
But only enough so she could see
Herself
No one else
No one else
Could see her light.
And she tried to
Matter
But her throat would close up
Tight
Telling her it was alright
To not know what to say
To go through every day
Just like a firefly
Whose name
Proposes
Flame
That only lights up herself
And she wonders if a firefly
Can ever become a blaze
And if a blaze lights up itself
At all
Or only the night sky

This is about me, and how sometimes I feel like I should be able to do something more important than just living within my own life.
