Love is our Weapon
Let us be free
from our pain
from our fear.
Let us be free.
You were yellow
thin and fragile.
So young
so naive,
yet informed about the disease
that attacked your lungs.
I watched you die
you heard me cry.
Yet you still smiled
as if everything was alright,
and you held on tight
to this thing we call life.
I heard the news
late that afternoon.
That's when I knew,
the battle was over.
You couldn't be strong any longer
so you flew away to god.
In some way that made me stronger.
I sit here and remember
the memories we had,
the mistakes we made,
and the times that took
my breath away.
