Stack me up then smash me down
Scatter my pieces far and wide
Toss me up and crash me down
Tilt me off my axis, spin me on my side

Roll me along a lofty hill
Watch me bump, jump, and slump along
Slipping, sliding, sloping, slanting
While you twiddle your thumbs and hum a little song

Stand just far enough and face the other way
But you look out the corner of your all-seeing eye
Sticking out your leg to trip me as I pass
While I'm just trying to get by

Surprising, shocking, startling me
Leaving me stirred and shaken
All I've tried is to keep a smile on my face
Do you realize how much that has taken?

Reality is constantly doing this
It's a situation as tricky as a boy scout-knotted rope
All you can do is brush yourself off, re-gather your strength
The only weapon you can fight with is hope

The author's comments:
I felt like I lost so much- death of a family member, friends being... well, normal bratty teenagers, loosing self esteem, and loosing love. It has been such a hard time getting back up on my feet and sometimes I feel like the world keeps pushing me down. You just got to push right back at it-with hope. Hope is always there.
