come success to my singing
Come success to my singing come success to my song come success to my calling
I, young and intelligent as I am striving for the sweet savory taste of success come success to my calling
From the comical days of grade school to the mature future of tomorrow
my ears tune in to the sweet melodies and the perfect harmony of achievement come success to my calling
Through the joyous days and laughter
Through discouragement and trials come success to my calling
Through the capacity of hard work and the expectation of knowledge
Through the premature minds of the habitat where I am surrounded come success to my calling
Starting with dedication and commitment battling through temptation of giving up
Ending with rewards that even an artist couldn’t imagine come success to my calling
Stepping over boundaries where society is scared to grow.
My ambition to overachieve as an African American woman
To paralyze the tongues of those who underestimate me come success to my calling
Not wanting to based on the perceptions of misinformed people
But by overseeing little-minded people surrounded by a cage of ignorance
Not meeting up to the statistics of this generation but by accepting criticism and acting upon it
And trampling over those who will before long admire my accomplishment come success to my calling
I declare that I will not let you slip through the crack of my fingers
I will grasp on to your hand just as a mother embraces a newborn come success to my calling
Come success to my singing come success to my song come success to my calling
