They persuade you to vote their way
Men in cotton suits
And bogus smiles plastered across camera-ready faces
They plead for your vote
Through fake promises and forced bribes
To splash victory in the faces of competitors
Subliminal messages hiss from animated lips
And leak from our mouths as we pass the peas at dinner
He adjusts his tie
And tries to pretend he isn’t reading from a teleprompter
“This message has been approved by…..”
