fallen leaves are like
dead soldiers.
Fallen
amidst the war forever raging
between Summer, wearing her welcome,
and Winter, pressing forward.
fallen leaves are like dead soldiers.
Fallen
silent and still until the satisfying crunch of human feet
crumbles upon them.
weary warriors,
sinking shadows.
Fallen
from branches in the sky
while a battle rages forever.
They fall forever.
