I'll Never Forget Her Smile

Waves crashing outside disturbing my peaceful sleep,
I jumped out of bed to the coffee machine's beep,

She approached warmly with her never ending smile,
we sat and watched the sunrise for just a little while,

Then my mommy told me our vacation had to end,
I didn't know that I'd never see my aunt again,

I remember it clearly auntie sitting in a chair,
I said my last goodbye unknowingly right then and there,

She softly kissed me on both of my rosy cheeks,
and she promised me she would see me in just a few weeks,

But she got sick, her cancer came back and had spread to her brain,
She left this world early morning her death signaled by the rain,

I didn't cry because I remembered her smile,
and I knew I'd see her again in awhile,

When the time comes I'll meet her again,
but I'll just imagine her everlasting smile until then.

A great poem, but very sad. :( Inspiring. There are too many people that know the pain of loosing someone to cancer. I will pray for you and your family.
