Lust flickered in the youthful man’s soul,
As he set down the path in search of new gold.
He searched long and hard, but always failed to see,
The simpleness around him: the birds in the trees.
He grew tired of looking in the heat and the weight,
That eventually he gave up, with no remembrance of date.
So alas he walked back on the dirt path alone,
And that’s when he realized, his gold was at home.

This piece was written by me to portray the figure of a young, clueless soul who always dreams of wanting more, but never notices all the sincere and simple things he already has. He only then notices these things after he realizes that there is nothing more to see, nothing better, than to be at home.
