Hopes half shattered,
Dreams half mended,
The country strives
With valor and glory.
Sufficed to say that
Is the way of the world.

The author's comments:
It just came to me, after a shower one day. I wrote on the back of one of those 365 every day calendars. It got wet, and I dried it.
