Death

I lay motionless in my cold dark bed
swaddled underneath six feet of blankets.
People can’t wake me,
nor can the kiss me goodnight,
for I’m too deep under the covers;
too deep in my endless sleep.
I dream for all eternity,
never seeing the light of day
unless it appears in my dreams.
Unmoving, silent, and cold
is the way I will remain from
now until forever.
