You Have It Wrong

I’m sitting here,
Your in front of me
Asking,
“what is it?
Is it me?
Is it something, I cannot see?”
I want to screem
Get up on my feet
Stand;
Get in your face
“IT ISN’T YOU!
HOW COULD THAT BE?
ALL THIS TIME, IT’S ALWAYS BEEN ME!”
You have it backwards,
You’ve done no wrong,
But right now, I cannot speak.

I do not try to be,
Or at least I do not think
I want this miserable feeling
To lay inside of me.
I cannot help it.
But can this be,
That I cannot help if it consumes
Every ounce,
Every inch of me.

Maybe I can,
Maybe I have it all wrong,
Maybe this path I’ve choosen
Is just
Too
Long.*
