\"Trey....thats my thigh.\"~Brittany H. (in the backseat of my friends Bronco on the way home from school one day)

Flags rise and soldiers fall
Nothing keeps them from standing tall
A fall from grace
An unknown death
A soldier breathes, his last breath

Walking tall, Head held high
Watching those tall flags fly
Time again
To hear that bell

Sandy dunes and dust filled rooms
Quiet as that one black tomb
Broken down,
A man stands there
Shaking hands run through hair

A nameless brother,
A dedicated soldier,
His last breath not for vain
The one who guards
Stands until lain

His silent mouth
His vigilant eyes
Remain on target
A place to lay
A family in grief

He stands in silence
Watching and waiting
Honor is his,
Yet honor is not

A volunteer who cares
A man with dedication
A brother with vigilance
A friend who sees
The nameless tomb
Finally in peace

When writing this poem, I don't know it just came to me out of nowhere. I was sitting in my Algebra II class and we weren't doing anything so i wrote it down as quick as possible. This is a poem about the turmoil and pain an escort in the US Military goes through when they help bring a fallen brother/sister home to America from overseas.
