Dead Rose
I lay there waiting
Waiting for the sun
Waiting for the water
my nourishment
But nothing comes my way
My body begins to weaken
Turning every which way but right
My color fades to a rusty brown
I’ve gone from a red beauty
To a bunch of crippled petals on a stem
Nothing but ashes to mark my existence
