I stand amongst chaos,
Rubble and ruins around me.
The corrupt destroy freedom,
Whilst the lost wander
Out into the inviting arms
Of the wicked wolves.

Truth seekers get attacked
By media and corrupters.
Balancing on the narrow beam of light,
Some will wobble, then fall.
Others pray to God and hang on.

The boastful and proud
Walk through fire,
But then complain they are too cold
To even move.
Their eyes go blind,
And their hearts turn to deceit.

The fake soothsayers,
They fill up empty heads
With fake promises,
With repeating rhetoric
That destroys relationships
And instill fear into our hearts.

Why do people look at the
Ruins of chaos and see
The glimmering Emerald City?
But a few wonder what the truth is
And remove their glasses,
Only to find the growing pangs of the world
Have created blossoming weeds of
Ignorance, doubt, sorrow,
Anger, greed, hopelessness.

Poor souls perceive what
Hides behind the mask of the wicked.
They try to save the lost while
The twisted and greedy laugh and mock
The ignorance of the weak.
But theirs is the fate to be feared.

Then there are those with emotions
That cannot be expressed solely through
Words, actions, or art.
When they offer us light,
We scorn and sneer at the gift.
So slowly, they collapse unto themselves,
Where thoughts and gestures
Are unnecessary.
