Vinegar This work has been published in the Teen Ink monthly print magazine.

This week smelled of
vinegar; it oozed from
the kitchen and into my
nose, it sunk in-
to the fibers of
my clothes.
This week smelled of
vinegar,
and I don't
want you any longer.

I love the relation of vinegar to (I'm assuming) a tough breakup(?). The whole idea gave me a very - pungent - imagery of what was going on. I could almost smell the vinegar as I read this, and that's just want you want to happen to your reader... Not that smelling vinegar is a good reward for your reader, but that it gives them the perfect sense of the speaker's feelings. Bravo!

Whoops, sorry about that. The new comment format threw me off for a second. What I meant to say was that I quite like this piece. :) It is charmingly simple.
